The same OpenECU module used for your rapid control prototype system development can also be used for demonstration fleets and low to intermediate volume production. Pi Innovo has the experience and process discipline to execute safety critical production hardware and software programs, and the flexibility to “do what it takes” for rapid prototyping. Many customers engage with Pi Innovo for our production ready customizable OpenECU rapid prototyping platform but become long-term customers as they work with our engineering team. A growing portion of Pi Innovo ’s business is delivering fully custom electronics hardware designs. Detailed hardware requirements are defined using the OpenECU platform and custom modules are developed to meet specific customer performance, cost, reliability and packaging requirements. Most high volume custom modules are manufactured by our customers or by customer determined contract manufacturers.

Pi Innovo has extensive experience using electronic controls to improve all aspects of dynamic vehicle performance.
Specific experience includes systems that control active suspension struts and dampers, modify differential output, apply braking and adjust the aerodynamics of the vehicle. These systems model the vehicle attitude and driver intention to adjust the vehicle controls, optimizing stability and performance.
Pi Innovo-designed systems are improving a wide range of vehicles, from boutique supercars to off-highway and military vehicles that tackle the most arduous terrains.
Our flexible range of customizable OpenECU modules includes the M461, with 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscopic sensors that can be used for initial rapid prototyping and as the basis for volume solutions.
Pi Innovo has many years of experience in the development of control systems for pure electric and hybrid-electric vehicles. Technologies include: hybrid combinations of battery power with gasoline, diesel and fuel cell power sources. Leading-edge research projects have included the use of novel hydraulic power storage and delivery systems.
Our skills have been applied to whole vehicle modeling, vehicle system control and the control of fundamental hybrid powertrain components such as battery management and engine stop-start control as well as the electrification of various vehicle auxiliary systems.
Pi Innovo has extensive experience working with diesel engine and exhaust system manufacturers to develop electronic control solutions that meet progressively more stringent emissions regulations. Experiences include engine and exhaust aftertreatment ECU hardware design and development of both air cooled and fuel cooled systems, control software and diagnostics development and engineering support in resolving post-production issues.
Pi Innovo-designed diesel exhaust aftertreatment controllers are in volume production on medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicle applications worldwide.
Pi Innovo have designed and implemented custom motor control electronics to take advantage of the benefits of GaN semiconductors in applications with a wide range of input voltages from 12V to 300V, making the design ideally suited to the electrification of auxiliary vehicle systems on multi-voltage conventional, hybrid-electric, and pure electric vehicles. This controller design provides a functional starting-point for the development of 48V and above high-speed motor-driven vehicle systems.
